Facilities

Behind the glass walls and stainless steel pillars of Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences Academic and Student Center, completed in the fall of 2004, reside state-of-the-art chemistry laboratory facilities.

The new undergraduate lab features a modular design comprised of four self-contained pods for 16 students each. While 64 students can work concurrently, the pod design allows for small group work where more than one class can be conducted, or groups can work on different experiments simultaneously. The design includes fully equipped pods, a video projection system with a 42-inch LCD monitor in each pod, a separate room for specialized instruments, and continuous interaction among student groups, their pod instructors, and a circulating professor.

The lab has floor to ceiling picture windows looking out onto Longwood Avenue, providing passers-by with a glimpse into the world of science where white coat-clad students prepare to meet the technology and health care challenges of the future.

Graduate chemistry laboratories provide separate facilities where advanced students conduct independent thesis and dissertation experiments and collaborate with faculty on new research and sponsored grants.
