BS in Dental Hygiene, 33-month Accelerated

Boston

The accelerated bachelor of science in dental hygiene curriculum is designed for entering freshmen who seek a scientifically oriented program that combines academic and clinical experiences. Students complete the program in 33 months and are eligible to site for the licensing exams in the third year.

The accelerated program includes:
  • Electives in an area of special interest
  • Courses in general education and the basic sciences
  • Core classes in dental hygiene theory, practice and pain management
  • Patient care experience in the state-of-the-art Esther M. Wilkins Dental Hygiene Clinic
  • Patient care assignments in the Boston area
  • Service learning enrichment opportunities in the community

Program instruction is conducted in our new facilities at the MCPHS Boston campus which offer students excellent clinical experiences. These include interaction with patients in the new Esther M. Wilkins Forsyth Dental Hygiene Clinic on campus which has 24 operatories; digital radiologic imaging technology; intraoral cameras; state-of-the-art, ergonomic patient and operator chairs; digital panoramic technology; and computerized chairside charting.


Blood-Borne Pathogens Statement

Students in the Dental Hygiene program may be exposed to blood-borne pathogens and infectious diseases while providing clinical services. Students are provided with instruction on infectious diseases, mechanisms of disease transmission, and infection control procedures to reduce the risk of disease transmission, including those published by national public health agencies, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the U. S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
