Computer and Software Requirements to Access BlackBoard 6

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR PC USERS:

  • Operating System: Windows 2000, XP, Vista
  • Ram: 2 GB or more
  • Free disk space: 20 GB of free disk space
  • Software recommended: Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Flash Player, Windows Media Player and Adobe Acrobat Reader. If you do not have these products, you may download their free viewers from their individual websites.
  • do have a version of Microsoft Office installed, you must have Office XP (Service Pack 2 or greater), Office 2003, or Office 2007.
  • MCPHS would also like to recommend taking advantage of your “Student” status and purchasing the latest version of the Microsoft Office product at a discount here: http://www.microsoft.com/office
  • Browser: Internet Explorer (IE) version 6.0 or greater (IE 8 is NOT supported and has known incompatibilities with many applications in use by the College) (Alternate browsers, such as Firefox or Opera, or Safari on a Mac, are also not supported.)
  • Java must be enabled in your browser
  • Modem: DSL or cable modem recommended if your course is graphic intensive or contains large PowerPoint presentations or packaged files
  • Sound Card and speakers

  • Operating System: 7.5 - or higher (OS X not fully supported)
  • Ram: 64MB (128 MB recommended)
  • Free disk space: 5 MB (10 MB recommended)
  • CPU Speed: PowerMacintosh or higher
  • Software recommended: Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat Reader, Flash Player and PowerPoint.
  • Browser: Internet Explorer (IE) version 6 or greater or Netscape version 4.5x to 7.1x or greater
  • Modem: 56k modem (DSL or cable modem recommended)
  • Sound Card and speakers, microphone optional
