Pharmacy Experience Program (PEP)
Boston, Worcester/Manchester
FAQ
How are rotation assignments made?
A key function within PEMS (Pharmacy Education Management System) is
"the spin,” a randomization process which gives all students
an equal opportunity to match with their site and geographic zone preferences.
The Office of Experiential Education coordinates assignments overall.
The office reviews the rotation assignments to insure that each student
has received a rotation schedule which meets all curricular requirements.
How do I state my preferences for a rotation assignment?
Students enter site and geographic zone preferences into PEMS. Final
site assignments for the entire academic year will be distributed to
students through PEMS during the spring semester.
Will my assigned rotations be accessible via public transportation?
Not always. A number of experiential rotations in the required curriculum
may be at some distance from campus. This is necessary to provide a
range of diverse learning experiences and ensure availability and quality
of rotation sites. Students are responsible for transportation to and
from their rotation sites.
Can I arrange my own rotations?
Although the program is always interested in learning about new quality
sites and preceptors, students are not allowed to set up their own rotations.
All rotations must be processed through the Office of Experiential Education.
Once the rotation assignments are published, can I request
a change to my rotation placements?
Changes to rotation assignments are considered on a case-by-case basis.
A compelling reason or documentation of hardship must be provided to
support the request for change. Students requesting to change a rotation
that has been confirmed do so at the risk of losing the rotation.
When should I contact my preceptor?
Students are responsible for contacting their preceptor at least two
weeks prior to the beginning of each rotation. Failure to do so may
result in losing the rotation. A few sites require earlier contact
