I-20 Application Process

Instructions to obtain a student visa

A Form1-20 is a government form that tells the United States government that you are eligible for the F-1 Student Status.

It certifies that:

  • You are or expect to be a “bona fide” student
  • You meet the our admission requirements
  • You will pursue a full course of study
  • You’ve proved to us that you have enough money to study and live in the United States for the duration of your studies

You will need a Form I-20 to obtain an F-1 student visa or to keep lawful F-1 status when transferring or changing schools within the United States. Students who will be sponsored by their government or another type of scholarship must submit a letter of financial guarantee specifically detailing the extent of their scholarship at the time they apply for admission.

Please be advised that prospective international students currently living in the United States on another visa type, other than a F-1, are eligible to study at MCPHS. Education is considered a secondary activity.

Note: B And F-2 visa types are prohibited from beginning a course of study.
