Live Programs

A live program involves any CE program that provides direct interaction between speakers and participants.

PHARMACY PROGRAMS

Programs for pharmacy may include lectures, symposia, live teleconferences and workshops. Participants are required to complete a program evaluation form and signature sheet, and must attend all sessions in order to receive continuing education credit. Statements of Credit are mailed within four to six weeks. Please view our list of programs currently offered.

The Department of Continuing Education develops accredited programs for health sciences disciplines – nursing, physician assistant, dental hygiene and the radiological sciences. Please view our list of programs currently offered.

August 2007

Immunization Training Program for Pharmacists

Saturday, August 18 & Sunday, August 19, 2007 – White Hall – MCPHS-Boston (all day)


Attend the full day APhA Pharmacy-based Immunization Delivery Program on Saturday, August 18 and earn up to 8.5 hours of continuing education credit for completing the live training seminar. Earn an additional 12 hours of credit by successfully completing the self-study learning component of the program. Register for Sunday morning, August 19 to receive your Smallpox Vaccination Certification and an Update from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (2 hours of continuing education). You can also receive Red Cross CPR Certification by attending the CPR training in the afternoon. Attend the entire weekend or pick and choose the training sessions you want to attend.

The NHPA & MCPHS Fall CE Program

Sunday, September 9, 2007 – Highlander Inn & Conference Center, Manchester, NH (8:30am – 3:30pm)


The New Hampshire Pharmacists Association and MCPHS are pleased to host this full day CE program for all pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and other health care professionals. Topics for this program include Erectile Dysfunction, CA-MRSA, Asthma and Pharmacy Law. Earn up to five (5) contact hours (0.5 CEUs) including two hours in pharmacy law. Diabetes Education for the Pharmacist

Saturday, September 29, 2007 – White Hall – MCPHS-Boston (8am – 4pm)


This activity rigorously reviews current thinking on treatment protocols related to the management and prevention of complications in the patient with type 2 diabetes. The faculty translates recent clinical trial data into clinical practice and discusses the complexity of managing diabetes. This all-day event will focus on both “traditional” and new therapies, results from pivotal trials and novel approaches in managing diabetic patients. In addition, attendees will participate in hands-on glucometer and insulin administration workshops in order to address the importance of appropriate glucose monitoring and insulin injection techniques, learn how to use various insulin administration devices and to discuss how pharmacists can ease the anxiety of patients who need home glucose monitoring, oral agents and/or insulin. Pharmacists will gain specific skills and comprehensive knowledge that they can incorporate into their practice or work site environment to provide a higher level of care to their patients with diabetes.

11th Annual Northeastern Psychiatric Pharmacotherapy Symposium (NEPPS)

Friday, October 12 & Saturday, October 13, 2007 – Hotel Northampton, Northampton, MA


The NEPPS is a two-day symposium focusing on topics related to the medications utilized in the treatment of psychiatric and neurologic disorders. Five contact hours (0.5 CEUs) are offered each day. Topics for 2007 include schizophrenia, depression, and insomnia to Parkinson's disease, alternative medications in psychiatry, and medications currently under development in psychiatry and neurology. The program takes place each year in the fall, and will be held in scenic Northampton, MA in 2007.

The Howard L. Reed Conference


Thursday, March 13, 2008
This full-day conference attracts nearly 700 pharmacists and continues to be one of the largest pharmacy conferences in New England. Earn 6.0 contact hours (0.6 CEUs) including one (1) hour in pharmacy law by attending the educational sessions, and an additional 2.0 contact hours (0.2 CEUs) by participating in the poster presentations. Dental Hygiene Continuing Education Program: New Research – New Challenges

Saturday, November 17, 2007 – Forsyth Dental Hygiene Clinic – MCPHS-Boston (8 am – 4 pm)
Changes in scientific advances provide dental hygienists with new levels of insight into patient needs and offer more options in the selection of patient care plans. Once a patient care plan is outlined, interventions can be implemented to prevent recurrence of infection. With new research there are new changes! Speakers for this program are Esther Wilkins, RDH, DMD and Anna Pattison, RDH, MS. Receive up to 7 hours of continuing education credit by attending the full day.
