“Scholarship makes the faculty better teachers; they are more
current and actively engaged in their subject matter, and that translates
to a more exciting environment for students and colleagues.”
—Janis P. Bellack, Provost Emerita
Health sciences instruction requires high standards, commitment and innovation. The recruitment and retention of highly qualified and motivated faculty members is essential to carrying out the mission of any institution of higher learning; MCPHS is no exception. To retain current faculty and to build a stronger faculty for the growing number of degree programs, MCPHS must support increasing scholarly activity, professional development and research pursuits.
MCPHS seeks funds to strengthen recruitment and retention by increasing financial support for professional development, encouraging research and promoting scholarly activity and establishing one full professorship or two associate professorships to foster faculty research.
The assistance will help faculty members enhance their teaching skills, promote leading edge research, contribute to the advancement of their respective disciplines and extend the service component of their fields in creative ways.
