Meet the Director of the Writing Center


Carol-Ann Farkas, Director of the Writing Center

Carol-Ann Farkas has been at MCPHS since August 2002. In addition to managing the Writing Center, she is an assistant professor of English in the School of Arts and Sciences, and she coordinates the MCPHS Writing Proficiency Exam.

She grew up in British Columbia and did her BA and MA at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver. She then moved to Edmonton Alberta, where she did her doctoral work at the University of Alberta, on the fiction and history of late 19th-century women doctors in Britain and the US. She has lived in Boston since 1998 with her husband Chris. Her teaching and research interests are medical history, Victorian literature, popular culture, and composition studies. Her off-duty interests are martial arts, baking, knitting, travel, cycling, yoga, TV and reading.
