About

Throughout his clinical career, Dr. Simmons has helped adults experiencing neurological challenges such as stroke, traumatic brain injury, and Parkinson’s disease. He's worked in a variety of settings that include acute care hospitals, rehabilitation, outpatient, and community-based practices. Dr. Simmons recently earned certification as a clinical anxiety treatment professional. His research has focused on occupational therapy assessment and intervention for adults recovering from stroke and traumatic brain injury, and their ability to return to performing desired or needed everyday activities. He has multiple publications related to his research focus.

Dr. Simmons has taught a range of courses including Occupational Therapy Theory, Research Methods, Evidence-Based Practice, Applied Design, Research Capstone, Therapeutic Groups, Adult Physical Dysfunction, Business and Management, and Neurology and Motor Performance
