Circulation/Reserves

Circulation policy

A valid MCPHS or FLC ID is required to borrow all material

Reserve collection

  • Circulate for a maximum of three hours
  • May not be reserved in advance
  • Maximum of three reserve items at a time, per patron
  • Fines for overdue reserve materials: $1.20 per hour
  • Maximum fine per item is $25.00

General collection

Books

  • Circulate for three weeks with one renewal to all holders of valid identification from MCPHS and Fenway Library Consortium (FLC) institutions.
  • Maximum of ten items on loan at a time, per patron
  • Borrower has one week to return the materials recalled for reserves
  • Failure to return materials may result in suspension of borrowing privileges
  • Reference books do not circulate

Videos and DVDs

  • Videos and DVDs not on reserve may be borrowed for 7 days
  • May be borrowed only by MCPHS students, faculty and staff

Journals and materials from the archives

  • Journals and materials from the archives do not circulate

Overdue fines and fees

  • Overdue fines are not imposed on non-reserve items
  • Any book overdue for six weeks will be considered lost.
  • Lost or mutilated books incur a processing fee of $30.00 plus the cost of the book
  • Lost or overdue books borrowed from other FLC institutions are subject to fines imposed by those institutions
  • Outstanding fines of $20 or greater may result in suspension of borrowing privilege; students with suspended accounts will be unable to register for the upcoming semester or receive a transcript from the Registrar's Office until fines are paid

Group study rooms at the main library

  • May be reserved up to 3 days in advance for a 2 hour session by two or more students
  • Students may reserve a study room for one session per day
  • A valid MCPHS ID is required to reserve a room
  • Present the reservation receipt to confirm their reservation.

Photocopies

Photocopy machines

Photocopy machines are available. Copies cost 10 cents per copy. Machines take coins and bills (ones, fives, tens) as well as copy cards.

Preprogrammed copy cards ( Boston Library only)

Cards are available at the Circulation Desk from the Circulation Supervisor. Research graduate students, faculty, administration, and staff only need to be present to request and obtain a card. Program directors should submit a list of authorized graduate students to the Head of Technical/Access Services at the beginning of the academic year.

Blank copy cards (Boston Library only)

Blank copy cards may be purchased from a vending machine in the copy machine room.
