Forsyth Students Provide Free Oral Health Services to the Community

During March, the MCPHS Forsyth School of Dental Hygiene organized a local outreach program to benefit Mission Hill and Roxbury teens, as well as immigrant population at Jewish Vocational Services (JVC) of Boston. Dental Hygiene students Bianca Dudas, Flavia Kimera and Gina Rosati, with the help of faculty, organized the program as part of their Capstone Project. Over three days, thirty students from MissionSAFE and 25 immigrants received free teeth cleanings, fluoride treatments, oral cancer screenings, oral hygiene instruction, sealants, dental radiographs and referrals for restorative care.  The Forsyth School hopes to expand this type of outreach initiative to benefit other local communities by creating a collaborative wellness day event that would involve several of the College's other health professions, students and faculty.
