Worcester and Manchester Campuses Hold Spring Leadership Summit
On May 21, more than 110 student leaders from both the Worcester and Manchester campuses gathered for the Spring 2011 Leadership Summit at the TEAMWORKS complex in Northborough, Mass. Student leaders participated in challenging teambuilding activities that featured ropes courses and a bounce house. The activities were designed to help students strengthen their problem solving proficiency as well as their critical and creative thinking skills. In a post-event survey, the students expressed great appreciation for the opportunity to meet students with whom they attend classes, but only encounter through distance education technology. Motivated by the summit experience, the students have begun to explore additional cross-campus collaborative opportunities.
Nicole Desabrais, student activities coordinator, Elizabeth Smith-Freedman, assistant dean of Academic Support Services and Shuli Xu, dean of Students, also attended the event and enjoyed the opportunity to work off campus with student leaders. Nicole Desabrais and Linda Brown-Connors, associate dean of Students, planned the summit.
