Schwartz Rounds Fall 2012
MCPHS Hosts 8th Schwartz Center Educational Rounds
The eight Schwartz Center Educational Rounds – titled “Compassionate Conclusions” – took place on October 25 in Reed Hall. Following a brief presentation regarding compassionate patient care at the end of life, the capacity audience heard two students – Katherine Westerhof (Radiation Therapy) and Alexandra Hall (Nursing) – describe their experiences caring for patients reaching the end of their lives. The audience responded with a wide range of questions and comments, as well personal testimonies.
The Rounds, founded by the Schwartz Center for Compassionate Care and co-sponsored by the Center and MCPHS, are an opportunity for students and faculty to explore the social and emotional issues associated with patient care – critical aspects of patient-centered care. More than 250 healthcare facilities across the country host Schwartz Rounds; MCPHS is one of only four schools selected to host the Rounds.
The next Schwartz Center Educational Rounds® event will take place in spring 2013.
