«Return to Press Releases President Monahan presents an MCPHS cap and Red Sox Championship T-shirt to Hangzhou Vice Mayor Chen Xiaoping on November 14 in Hangzhou, China. Looking on is Dr. Guo Qing, President of Hangzhou Medical College. Mr. Xiaoping will visit MCPHS Boston later in November to discuss models for pharmacy and nursing services at three new hospitals being planned for Hangzhou, a city of 6.5 million located southwest of Shanghai.
Acting Provost Michelle Kalis awards the Bronze medal in the men's track event at Hangzhou Normal University on November 15. The University sponsored the all-day event as part of China's celebration of the 2008 Olympic Games to be held in Beijing next summer.
Bronze, silver and gold medals for the women's track event at Hangzhou Normal University are presented by MCPHS Vice Presidents George Humphrey and Peg Johnson and School of Arts and Sciences professor Xiang Chang.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

College Delegation Visits China

President Charles F. Monahan Jr. visited four cities in China this month, accompanied by Acting Provost Michelle Kalis, Vice President for College Relations George Humphrey, Vice President for College Advancement Marguerite Johnson and Assistant Professor of Mathematics Xiang Chang. The purpose of the trip to Hangzhou, Shanghai, Xian and Beijing was to discuss collaborative educational programs and to plan a conference on pharmacy, nursing and traditional Chinese medicine to be held in November 2008. The delegation was hosted by Dr. Guo Qing, President of Hangzhou Medical College, as part of a five-year collaborative agreement with MCPHS. In addition to conferring with Dr. Guo, President Monahan and the delegation met with officials of the Hangzhou municipal government, a hospital of traditional Chinese medicine in Shanghai, and officials from China's Ministry of Health and the Chinese Medical Association in Beijing.
