MCPHS Celebrates Record-Setting Scholarship Recognition Event
On April 3, the College Advancement and Alumni offices hosted the 4th Annual Scholarship Recognition Dinner in White Hall on the Boston Campus, preceded by a reception in the Matricaria Academic and Student Center atrium. This year’s event drew capacity attendance of almost 220 guests. Peg Johnson, Vice President for College Advancement, welcomed the attendees, noting that the gathering collectively represented the largest assembly of scholarship award winners, family members, friends, donors, faculty and administration staff in the 185-year history of the College.
After dinner, President Charles F. Monahan Jr. and State Representative Jeffrey Sanchez addressed the audience. President Monahan congratulated the awardees and recalled that he received a $500 scholarship award that made it possible for him to enter the College in 1958. Representative Sanchez praised the student scholarship award winners for their commitment to academic excellence, and spoke about the important role that MCPHS plays in the city of Boston, and especially in his district. The celebration has become a signature event on the College calendar, uniting some of the most loyal, consistent and generous donors to MCPHS with direct recipients of their charitable generosity.
