MCPHS Volunteers At Mission Hill Youth Collaborative Showcase
On April 28, several members of the MCPHS community helped the Mission Hill Youth Collaborative hosted a formal awards banquet, “Mission on the Move: Showcase of Star,” to honor local youth who have made exceptional achievements in community programs around Mission Hill. Held at the Pozen Center at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design, the event included entertainment, dinner, prizes, and an awards ceremony to honor young people in a variety of categories. Fourteen awards were handed out, including one to MCPHS for its support of Mission Hill youth and families.
The College's participation in the event was coordinated by Jill Griffin, Director of Community Partnerships. MCPHS Media Production Specialist Fran Rogers donated his time and resources to print large color posters of artwork and pictures for award winners to display at the event. While the event was held during final exams week, many MCPHS students volunteered throughout the day to help set up the event, register guests, organize raffle prizes, serve food and clean up after dinner. Volunteers included Amanda Durgin, Stacey O’Reilly, Stephanie Dalrymple, and Christina Buettner from the National Student Nurses’ Association (NSNA); Liz Goldberg, student Member of the American Dental Hygienist’s Association (SADHA); and Vidhi Parikh, Victoria Walker, Vidhy Boghara, Sonal Patel, Beth Leung, Karen Cheng, Sapna Charania, Janice Cho, Erin Collopy, and Elizabeth Levitin from the Rho Chi, Psi Chapter of MCPHS-Boston.
