MCPHS Pharmacy Outreach Program Participates in First Life Sciences Day at State House

On May 21 at the State House, MCPHS Pharmacy Outreach Program participated in the first Life Sciences Day, hosted by the Massachusetts Biotech Caucus and PhRMA. Mary Sullivan, Director of MCPHS Pharmacy Outreach Program, and Jennifer Fradette, a sixth-year pharmacy student who is currently on rotation with the Office of Government Affairs & Continuing Education, were on hand to speak about MCPHS Pharmacy Outreach Program’s services with pharmaceutical representatives, elected officials and staff from the Massachusetts Biotechnology Council. Seventeen biotech and pharmaceutical companies, comprising over 11,000 employees, also presented at the event. Speaking at the event were Lt. Governor Tim Murray, Massachusetts Biotech Caucus Co-chairs Senator Jack Hart and Representative Michael Rodriques, Representative Peter Koutoujian, House Chair of the Public Health Committee, Bob Coughlin, Undersecretary of Economic Development, and two patient advocates who discussed the importance of new drug development and the impact of the pharmaceutical manufacturers patient assistance programs.
