Marcy Winokur

Admission Counselor To Run Boston Marathon, Raise Money for Cancer Research

On Patriots Day, April 21, Marcy Winokur, Admission Counselor at the Boston campus, will be running the 112th Boston Marathon, her first marathon, in the memory of her late father, Dr. Arnold Winokur and in honor of her grandmother, Elva Winokur, a cancer survivor. Marcy will be running as a member of the 500-person Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge Team (http://www.rundfmc.org). Dr. Winokur, a general practitioner in Marcy's hometown of Madison, Conn., lost a 30-year battle with cancer last spring at the age of 57 and made two visits to Dana-Farber. Her grandmother has been in remission for over five years. Those running with the team must raise a minimum of $3,000 - Marcy's fundraising goal is $10,000.

Marcy has been training for 7 months, but was sidelined with a muscle injury suffered in January. She recently picked up where she left off and is ready for April 21. "I'm really doing this for my family, and to honor what we went through as a family," she said. For those of you at the race or following online at http://www.baa.org, Marcy's bib number is 22004.
