The Inaugural Manchester Student Government Association (SGA) hosted its first Leadership Awards Banquet on July 10 to recognize the contributions of individual student leaders and all club members. Earlier in the month, nominations were sought from students, faculty and staff. Both the response to the nomination process and participation at the event were overwhelming, and the following awards were presented:
- Emerging Student Leader – KC Ogbonna (PharmD)
- Community Service Award – Lauren Palma (Nursing)
- Behind the Scenes – Angela Freeman (Physician Assistant Studies.)
- Leadership Excellence – Stephanie Croteau (PharmD)
- Dean’s Award - Melissa Drye (PharmD)
- Outstanding Student Organization – Inaugural Student Government Association
- Outstanding Community Program – APhA-ASP Health Fair
Certificates of Appreciation and “You Make a Difference” desk cubes were presented to 75 active club members, and a slide show featuring photographs from the year’s events was also shown. During the program, the current executive board thanked Melissa Drye, outgoing SGA president, for her service and Michelle Kalis, Vice President for Academic Affairs/Provost, shared words of appreciation for each student leader and faculty advisor on behalf of President Charles F. Monahan Jr. The plaques for Outstanding Student Organization and Outstanding Community Program, inscribed with the criteria for the award, the winner and a group photo, are currently on display in the Manchester student lounge.
