Azerbaijani Health Care Delegations Visits Worcester Campus

A nine-person medical delegation from Azerbaijan visited MCPHS-Worcester on August 25 as part of a program to reform health care in the former Soviet Union nation. Ten doctors, Ministry of Health officials and other experts from the country on Iran’s northern border began a three-week stay in Worcester on August 6, through an effort sponsored by the U.S. Agency for International Development and carried out by the International Center of Worcester. The group toured the Worcester campus and met with Michael J. Malloy, Dean of the School of Pharmacy Worcester/Manchester and Executive Director of the Worcester campus. During the meeting, Dean Malloy discussed the development and delivery of the College’s Doctor of Pharmacy curriculum, the practice of pharmacy in the United States, and the research interest and capabilities of MCPHS faculty. Upon their return home, the group hopes to develop plans to enhance the national health system in Azerbaijan, particularly for women and children, by learning about quality improvement and evidence-based medicine.
