Hangzhou Medical College Students Visit MCPHS

From October 2-6, seven students from Hangzhou Medical College in China visited MCPHS as part of an exchange program between the two institutions. The visit is part of a two-year old relationship between the schools. In January 2007, President Charles F. Monahan Jr. and Dr. Guo Qing, President of Hangzhou Medical College, signed an agreement that established a sister-college relationship between the two institutions. In March 2008, six MCPHS students and one faculty member completed a one-week visit to Hangzhou Medical College over spring break.

During the first two days of the exchange program, the students have been immersed in classes across the Pharmacy, Nursing, and Marketing and Management programs. This afternoon, the students will be led on a tour of the Worcester campus and St. Vincent’s Hospital, and join Shuli Xu, Assistant Dean of Students and the Student Government Association for dinner. The group will get the quintessential Massachusetts experience, as they are scheduled to tour Plimouth Plantation and Walden Pond, go apple picking, and also see a performance of Blue Man Group at Boston’s Charles Playhouse. On Monday, the group will tour the Manchester campus and attend the School of Pharmacy-Boston’s White Coat Ceremony.
