Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Team

Bringing together an inclusive cross-section of people from around the University to serve on faculty, staff, and student teams that develop DEI goals and objectives.

The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Team brings together an inclusive cross-section of people from around the University to serve on faculty, staff, and student teams that develop DEI goals, objectives, and measurements and manage DEI programs and activities across all three MCPHS University campuses. The DEI Team works closely with senior leaders to ensure tight alignment with the University’s overall business strategy and to help institutionalize practices that support and accelerate DEI goals. The DEI Team helps create strategic accountability for results, provides guidance and oversight on diversity efforts, and promotes University-wide communication on topics that are inherently important to all of us. The DEI Team works to support the Mission and Vision of MCPHS and takes responsibility for upholding the University’s Core Values.

Mission

The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Team aims to intentionally create a vibrantly diverse campus where students, faculty, staff, and other members of our community feel connected, respected, accepted, and valued. We will accomplish this by appreciating diversity, exploring social justice issues, celebrating traditions, cultivating identities, supporting academic success, and developing leadership capacity. By celebrating our similarities and differences, we prepare our students, as current and future leaders, thinkers, and representatives of MCPHS University, to be transformative in an increasingly global world.

Working Group members will be selected by the DEI Team from among students and employees who express interest in participating. Employees will need approval from their supervisors after consideration of factors such as workload. In general, membership will reflect a diverse mix of students and employees representing different program areas, campuses, and statuses within the University. There will be plenty of opportunities to assist with the DEI Team’s work and implementation, regardless of membership.

The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Team reports to President Rick Lessard and Provost Caroline Zeind.

DEI Committee Leaders

We are excited to work with the MCPHS community to improve how we support and embrace diversity, equity, and inclusion. This will take time and focused efforts on everyone’s part, but the result of a more inclusive and welcoming MCPHS community will be well worth our efforts.
