December Commencement 2019 will be held on Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at the DCU Center (50 Foster Street) in Worcester, MA. Commencement will include students who have completed graduation requirements as of December 2019 in the following programs:

  • Dental Hygiene, Forsyth School of Dental Hygiene
  • Diagnostic Medical Sonography, School of Medical Imaging and Therapeutics
  • Nursing, School of Nursing
  • Nuclear Medicine Technology, School of Medical Imaging and Therapeutics
  • Physician Assistant Studies, School of Physician Assistant Studies

Commencement will follow the below schedule:

  • The venue (DCU Center) will open at 8:00 a.m.
  • Graduates must arrive and check-in by 8:15 a.m.
  • The Procession will begin at 9:45 a.m.
  • The Ceremony will begin at 10:00 a.m.

The Commencement Form and Senior Exit Survey must be completed by all December graduates, even those not participating in the Commencement Exercises.

Please complete the Commencement Form by October 22, 2019. When filling out the Commencement Form, please make sure that all requested information (including punctuation and capitalization) is entered correctly. Please double-check all of the entered information before submitting the form. Additionally, if a graduate or guest attending Commencement requires disability-related accommodations, please be sure to note this on the Commencement Form. The deadline to complete the Commencement Form is October 22, 2019.

Senior Exit Survey

Please be sure to complete the Senior Exit Survey. The link to this survey will be emailed to each student’s MCPHS email address in late November. If you do not receive the survey, please contact: elizabeth.beaulieu@mcphs.edu. Your survey must be completed before you can pick up your regalia.

The Senior Exit Survey must be completed by all December graduates, even those not participating in the Commencement Exercises.

Regalia Pick-Up Information

Regalia will be distributed at your home campus. All graduates must complete the Senior Exit Survey ahead of picking up their regalia. Students will be asked to present their MCPHS ID at regalia pick-up.

Graduates who are unable to pick up their regalia may send a proxy. The proxy must provide an email from the graduate stating permission to pick-up their regalia. That individual must also have a form of official ID (e.g. driver’s license) with them. Regalia does not need to be returned.

Commencement Tickets & Seating

All graduates who will be participating in the Commencement Exercise on December 18, 2019 will receive six (6) tickets for guests. The tickets will be given to graduates at regalia pick-up (see above). No additional tickets will be provided to students. Commencement tickets are required for guests to enter the DCU Center. Graduates do not need a ticket. Seating at the venue is first-come, first-served.

Children under two do not require a ticket if they will be seated on an adult's lap.

Arrangements for Guest with Mobility Impairments

Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis, with a reserved seating area for guests with mobility impairments. In order to accommodate guests who will be utilizing the designated areas, we do ask that only one additional guest be seated with guests with mobility needs.

Wheelchairs are allowed in the venue; however, wheelchairs are not provided at the venue. Upon arriving at the venue, seek direction from a University volunteer to locate the reserved area. Refreshments

Complimentary coffee and light refreshments will be available in the lobby area outside of the Commencement hall before the ceremony. A light lunch will be available after the ceremony.

Security

All guests are subject to a search upon entering the DCU Lobby area. This includes bags and personal items.

International Guests

MCPHS can provide a letter for visitation purposes for international guests. To receive assistance, please fill out this form.

Visitation letters are provided for proof of graduation only. The University is not responsible for assisting students’ families and/or guests in gaining entrance into the United States, and the University does not guarantee a student’s family or guests will be granted entrance into the United States of America.

Weather Conditions

The Commencement Exercises will be held inside the DCU Center. In the case of severe inclement weather, email, text, and phone notification will be sent to graduates through the RAVE alert system.

Photography

A University photographer who will capture a photo of graduates on stage. The complimentary photo will be mailed to the graduate shortly after the event. For safety reasons, guests are not permitted near the stage. The use of personal cameras and/or video recorder is permitted.

Guests are welcome to take photos during Commencement from designated locations.

Faculty Marshals

Graduates will have the opportunity to nominate faculty members to serve as a Faculty Marshal at Commencement. The Marshals will have the honor of leading the student procession at the Commencement Exercises. Information regarding the nomination of Faculty Marshals will be sent via email to students MCPHS email accounts.

Diploma

All graduates will receive a diploma cover prior to walking across the stage. If you decide not to attend the Commencement Exercises you still must complete the Commencement Form. Diplomas will be given to graduates after the ceremony. Any diplomas not picked up at the end of the Commencement Exercises will be brought back to the Worcester campus and mailed to graduates at the address entered on the Commencement Form. Please make sure that your address is updated, complete, and spelled correctly. Please note that mailing diplomas can take up to six (6) weeks. Diplomas are not available for pick-up on campus.
