Congratulations to everyone who will receive a degree at MCPHS December Commencement 2017! Commencement will take place on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at the DCU Center in Worcester, MA. For many of you, this culminates a long educational journey. Commencement is an important milestone in your life and we want to provide information to assist you in preparing for this joyful celebration.

Do I have to RSVP for Commencement?

All graduating students must complete the December 2017 Commencement Form, whether you are planning to attend the ceremony or not. The deadline to complete the form is Wednesday November 1, 2017. The form also asks for the pronunciation of your name so that it may be announced correctly. 

Are tickets required for my guests?

Tickets are required to attend. Students will receive 6 tickets to distribute to family and friends to attend.  Students will receive tickets when they pick up their cap and gown. Please note that tickets must be presented to enter the event. Seating at the venue is first-come, first-served

How do I get my cap and gown?

Once you fill out the 2017 Commencement Form, a confirmation e-mail will be sent to the you, along with instructions on how to order a cap and gown. In order to pick-up an ordered cap and gown, you must have completed the Senior Exit Survey (this survey will be sent to all graduates prior to Commencement). Caps and Gowns will be available for pick-up the week leading up to Commencement.

What time does Commencement begin?

  • Procession of Graduates begins at 10:00 am
  • Gates for Guests open at 8:00 am
  • Students must arrive at check-in by 8:15 am

Where can I park?

There are several city-owned parking garages and parking lots in the downtown area.  There are also several metered spots around the venue. Click here to view information on accessing the city owned parking garages.

What are the DCU Center Policies?

There is no storage available at the venue for student belongings. Please leave all belongings with a family member. All guests will be subject to standard bag check upon entering the venue.

What are the arrangements for guests with mobility needs?

Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis with a seating area for guests with mobility issues. There are designated areas at the stadium which are reserved for those with mobility issues.  Wheelchairs are allowed in the DCU Center; however, wheelchairs are not provided at the venue. In order to accommodate our guests who will be utilizing the designated areas, we do ask that only one additional guest be seated with our guests.

When should I arrive?

The lobby doors to the DCU Center will open at 8:00 a.m. for graduates and their guests.  Students must report to registration area no later than 8:15 a.m. There will be light refreshments available for graduates in the lineup area. 

How long is the ceremony?

The estimated program time is about 90 minutes. There will be individual programs for each academic discipline following the ceremony.

Can I take a video and/or photos at the event?

You may use your own camera and/or video recorder in the venue. There is a University photographer who will capture a photo of your graduate on stage. The complimentary photo will be mailed to the graduate shortly after the event. For safety reasons, guests are not permitted near the stage.  

Are refreshments available?

Complimentary coffee and light refreshments will be available in the lobby area outside of the Commencement hall. A light lunch will be provided after the ceremony.

When do I receive my diploma?

All graduates will receive a diploma cover when they cross the stage. Diplomas can either be picked up at the student’s campus in February or diplomas can be mailed to the address designated by the student. Students must indicate how they would like to receive their diploma on the December 2017 Commencement Form.

Will there be class photos?

Each program will take a group photo prior to the ceremony.  Below is the schedule:
8:30 a.m. – Physician Assistant
8:45 a.m. – Nursing
9:00 a.m. – Dental Hygiene 

I have family traveling from overseas. Can MCPHS University provide a letter for them for visa purposes?

MCPHS University can assist with providing documentation for visa purposes for overseas guests. To receive assistance, please fill out  the Visitation Request Form. For further questions regarding documentation, please contact carl.oliveri@mcphs.edu.
