Congratulations to everyone who will receive a degree at Commencement on Wednesday December 19, 2018 at the DCU Center in Worcester, MA. Commencement is an important milestone in your life and we want to provide information to assist you in preparing for this joyful celebration. If you or your guests have any questions about the event, please refer to the frequently asked questions below.

How do I RSVP?

All graduates must complete the December 2018 Commencement Form (whether you attend or not). The deadline to complete Commencement and Diploma Verification form is Monday, October 22.

How do I get my cap and gown?

Upon completion of the Commencement Form, graduate will receive a confirmation email. In order to pick-up cap and gown regalia, graduates must have completed the Senior Exit Survey (this survey will be sent to all graduates at a later date) and have the confirmation cap and gown email.

Caps and Gowns will be available for pick-up on the Worcester and Manchester campuses December 12 -14. Additional information will be posted at a later date.

How do I get tickets for guests?

Tickets are required to attend. When graduates pick up cap and gown regalia, they will also receive 6 tickets to distribute to guests. Please note that tickets must be presented to enter the event and seating at the venue is first-come, first-served.

Where can I park?

There are several city-owned parking garages and parking lots in the downtown area. View a map depicting a five-minute walking circle around the DCU venue. There are also several metered spots around the venue.

I have family traveling from overseas. Can MCPHS University provide a letter for visa purposes?

MCPHS University can provide a letter for visa purposes for overseas guests. To receive assistance, please fill out this form.

Please note: Letters are provided for proof of graduation only. The University is not responsible for assisting students’ families and/or guests in gaining entrance into the United States, and the University does not guarantee a student’s family or guests will be granted entrance into the United States of America.

What are the arrangements for guests with mobility needs?

Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis with a reserved seating area for guests with mobility issues. Wheelchairs are allowed in the venue; however, wheelchairs are not provided at the venue. Upon arriving at the venue, seek direction from a University volunteer to the reserved area. In order to accommodate our guests who will be utilizing the designated areas, we do ask that only 1 additional guest be seated with guests.

When should I arrive?

The Lobby doors to the DCU Center will open for all graduates and guests at approximately 8:00am with the procession scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. Please be aware that all bags are subject to check at entry. We ask that graduates arrive no later than 8:15 a.m.

How long is the ceremony?

The ceremony will be approximately 1 and a half hours. There will be individual programs for each academic discipline following the ceremony.

When do I receive my diploma?

All graduates will receive a diploma cover prior to walking across the stage. Diplomas can either be picked following the Academic Ceremony following Commencement, or it can be mailed to the address on the Commencement Form.

Can I take a video and/or photos at the event?

There is a University photographer who will capture a photo of your graduate on stage. The complimentary photo will be mailed to the graduate shortly after the event. For safety reasons, guests are not permitted near the stage. You may use your own camera and/or video recorder in the venue.

Are refreshments available?

Complimentary coffee and light refreshments will be available in the lobby area outside of the Commencement venue. A light lunch will be provided after the ceremony.

Where can I store my personal belongings during the event?

There is no storage available at the venue for belongings. Please leave all belongings with a family member. All attendees are subject to standard bag check upon entering the venue.
