5 Discoveries You’ll Make at Fall Open House at MCPHS–Boston

September 25, 2017

  • The best way to discover your exciting future in healthcare? Join us on our Boston campus this fall for Fall Open House on Sunday, November 5, 2017.

Check out our sneak peek of Fall Open House, designed for freshman and transfer students, which features a preview of five of the discoveries you’ll make at the big event:

    1. Passionate about healthcare? You’ll thrive at MCPHS.

Our students are naturally inquisitive and thoughtful critical thinkers. Above all, they are passionate about healthcare. At Fall Open House, you will learn how to channel your own passion into a rewarding career.

We produce some of the top earners in the nation. According to the U.S. Department of Education’s College Scorecard, our students are the #1 top earners in New England and the #4 earners in the nation a decade after enrolling.

And at Fall Open House, you can learn more about the dynamic programs that produce these top earners by speaking directly with faculty members. You will also hear from current students who are already thriving in the healthcare field.

    2. Our students call the LMA home.

Our students live and learn in the heart of Boston’s Longwood Medical and Academic Area (LMA), a world-renowned center for healthcare innovation. Just steps away from our campus, you’ll find world-class institutions—including Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and Boston Children’s Hospital—where our students take advantage of a variety of internship, clinical, and research opportunities.

At Fall Open House, take a moment to explore our dynamic neighborhood and begin to visualize yourself working and living in the hub of healthcare.

    3. The MCPHS advantage is cutting edge technology.

Equipped with the latest technology, our state-of-the-art labs enable students to gain vital hands-on experience.

Our dental hygiene students learn in one of the most comprehensive oral healthcare clinics in New England, serving real patients and gaining a complete professional experience. Our nursing students experience a real-world clinical environment, equipped with high-fidelity patient simulation manikins. And our diagnostic medical sonography students work with the latest 3D/4D ultrasound equipment.

At Fall Open House, discover all of these labs – and more – on a campus tour, or get a more in-depth look at a specific lab during one of our lab demonstrations.

    4. At MCPHS, we help you succeed.

At MCPHS, our faculty and staff take pride in helping students maximize their potential. Looking for some one-on-one academic help? The Center for Academic Success and Enrichment (CASE) offers a variety of services including tutoring, peer mentorship, and academic advising, and writing and math centers. Looking to network and find an internship? The Center for Professional Career Development (CPCD) partners with the Office of Alumni Relations to provide our students with comprehensive career development services, including one-on-one career advising and connections with our alumni.

At Fall Open House, you will have the opportunity to hear directly from CASE and the CPCD and learn how these important resources will help you succeed at MCPHS – and beyond.

    5. You’ll gain vital leadership experience during your time at MCPHS.

MCPHS students are passionate about getting involved and serving as leaders in their communities. With more than 90 recognized clubs, organizations, and professional fraternities, there are countless ways to get involved.

In addition to positively impacting their communities, our students gain vital leadership skills that translate to their future careers. “I want to work in oncology pharmacy one day,” said Jessie Valensi, PharmD ’15, who served as a member of the MCPHS chapter of Colleges Against Cancer. “Cancer care is hard. I will need to keep a cool head while under pressure, and I will have to be knowledgeable and quick on my feet in order to properly help my patients. These are all traits that I’ve learned through student leadership at MCPHS.”

At Fall Open House, you will have the opportunity to learn how you can gain leadership skills – just like Jessie – at our Activities Fair.

All of this, and more, is waiting for you at Fall Open House.
