Introduction to Chinese Medicine at New England School of Acupuncture at MCPHS

A unique opportunity to experience acupuncture and Chinese medicine - without enrolling in a degree program.

Designed for those interested in pursuing a degree in acupuncture and oriental medicine, the Introduction to Chinese Medicine course is a unique opportunity to get a glimpse of the exciting world of Chinese medicine.

The six-week, one credit online course examines key concepts in Chinese Medicine and considers its relevance in modern healthcare treatment of pain and other conditions. Through this course, students will apply diagnostic categories to a series of sample patients and learn to anticipate outcomes for acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine.

Online course assignments will focus on engagement, and will include video questions, group discussion, and written reflections.

Students will conclude the course with an in-person experience on our Worcester, MA campus, which is home to the New England School of Acupuncture. During this face-to-face session, students will immerse themselves in a variety of experiences, including point location and regional anatomy, treatment techniques, medical qigong, and the Chinese Herbal Medicine Center. Lunch will be provided. The Office of Admission will also share insight into the application process for the Master of Acupuncture (MAc) and Master of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (MAOM) degree programs at MCPHS.

This course is offered as an elective to current students in our acupuncture degree programs, which gives participants the opportunity to experience a representative course at the New England School of Acupuncture at MCPHS.
