When the Clot Thickens: Management of Venous Thromboembolism

This activity is intended for hospital-based pharmacists focused in the area of treating venous thromboembolism (VTE) patients, including special patient populations.

At the completion of this activity, the participant will be able to:

  • Explain recommendations regarding VTE management from previous guidelines to those from the most current guidelines.
  • Describe an appropriate treatment plan for a patient with VTE.
  • Identify treatment recommendations for various special patient populations, including recommendations in pregnancy and patients with cancer.

There is no fee to attend this activity. Registration is required to earn ACPE credit.

Presenter

Hannah Ritchie, PharmD is a PGY1 Pharmacy Resident at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts. Hannah is originally from Santa Clarita, California and earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree in May 2020 from the University of Rhode Island. Hannah’s primary interest areas include Critical Care, Emergency Medicine, and Academia. Hannah has early committed to the PGY2 Critical Care Pharmacy Residency at Baystate Medical Center for 2021-2022. Hannah is looking forward to a career of providing the utmost care for patients, contributing to the medical team, lifelong learning, and teaching others!

Requirements for Credit

Partial credit will not be awarded. CE credit will be automatically uploaded to CPE Monitor upon completion of the evaluation and posted to the participant’s NABP account within 72 hours. Attendance will be verified. Credit will not be issued to participants who join the meeting more than 15 minutes after the start of the meeting or to those who depart early. Credit cannot be awarded to individuals who complete the activity evaluation more than 60 days post activity.
