MA Board of Pharmacy Regulatory Update: March 2021

This activity is designed to meet the educational needs of pharmacists licensed by the MA Board of Registration in Pharmacy.

Registration is required if you would like to earn ACPE credit for attending.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, the participant will be able to:

  • Summarize new advisories, policies and circular letters.
  • Describe the pharmacy practice changes during COVID-19.
  • Summarize the frequently asked questions received during the emergency period of COVID-19


Richard Geaney Jr, RPH:
Richard Geaney Jr, RPH has served as a Pharmacy Investigator for the Department of Public Health, MA since 2015. Prior to this he worked in community pharmacy in various roles including Pharmacy District Manager, Manager of Pharmacy Operations, Pharmacy Supervisor, Regional Leader, Pharmacy Recruiter/Trainer and Pharmacy Manager. He also held an academic appointment at Northeastern University as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice. Rick received his BS in Pharmacy from MCPHS University in 1991. As part of his position, he regularly speaks to professional pharmacy audiences, updating them on current Massachusetts State Board of Pharmacy policies and regulations.

Michelle Chan, BS, RPh:
Michelle Chan, BS, RPh is a graduate of Northeastern University and has been a licensed pharmacist in Massachusetts for over 25 years. Prior to joining the Board of Registration in Pharmacy in 2015, Michelle was employed in a Boston teaching hospital providing her with extensive experience in pediatrics and oncology. In her current role as Quality Assurance Pharmacist, Michelle’s duties include providing regulatory guidance to pharmacy licensees, overseeing technician training programs, as well as developing and providing continuing education programs. Michelle is currently a part of the team promulgating regulations for sterile and non-sterile compounding.

MCPHS University is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. MCPHS designates this educational activity for a total of 1 contact hours (0.1 CEUs).

Requirements for Credit

Partial credit will not be awarded. To claim credit participants must log into their profile on MCPHS CE portal and insert the specific activity code for this webinar in order to access and complete the evaluation. CE credit will be automatically uploaded to CPE Monitor upon completion of the evaluation and posted to the participant’s NABP account within 72 hours.

Attendance will be verified. Credit will not be issued to participants who join the meeting more than 15 minutes after the start of the meeting or to those who depart early. Credit cannot be awarded to individuals who complete the activity evaluation more than 60 days post activity.


All participants will have the opportunity to review the educational session and speakers, and to identify future educational needs.
