This educational session is designed to meet the educational needs of pharmacists licensed by the MA Board of Registration in Pharmacy.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, the participant will be able to:

  • Explain the differences between advisories, policies, and circular letters
  • Identify new and revised documents governing the practice of pharmacy
  • Summarize common inspectional deficiencies


Julienne Tran, PharmD, RPh is a Pharmacy Investigator with the DPH at the Board of Pharmacy. She reviews complaints and reports received from the general public and agency personnel concerning alleged violations of laws and regulations. Additionally, she conducts inspections and evaluates pharmacy and drug related practices in health care facilities and pharmacies to ensure the health and safety of patients. She began her career as a staff pharmacist before shifting to regulatory enforcement. Julienne is a graduate of Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (MCPHS)-Boston where she received her PharmD in Pharmacy and is currently studying for an MBA from UMass Dartmouth. She also serves as an academic preceptor for MCPHS School of Pharmacy – Boston Campus.

Rick Geaney, Jr., RPh has served as a Pharmacy Investigator for the Department of Public Health, MA since 2015. Prior to this he worked in community pharmacy in various roles including Pharmacy District Manager, Manager of Pharmacy Operations, Pharmacy Supervisor, Regional Leader, Pharmacy Recruiter/Trainer and Pharmacy Manager. He also held an academic appointment at Northeastern University as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice. Rick received his BS in Pharmacy from MCPHS in 1991. As part of his position, he regularly speaks to professional pharmacy audiences, updating them on current Massachusetts State Board of Pharmacy policies and regulations.

There is no fee to attend this activity. Registration is required to earn ACPE credit. This webinar will be hosted on Zoom.

Requirements for Credit

Partial credit will not be awarded. To claim credit participants must log into their profile on MCPHS CE portal and insert the specific activity code for this webinar in order to access and complete the evaluation. CE credit will be automatically uploaded to CPE Monitor upon completion of the evaluation and posted to the participant’s NABP account within 72 hours.

Attendance will be verified. Credit will not be issued to participants who join the meeting more than 15 minutes after the start of the meeting or to those who depart early. Credit cannot be awarded to individuals who complete the activity evaluation more than 60 days post activity.


All participants will have the opportunity to review the educational session and speakers, and to identify future educational needs.
