Get to Know Boston: Museums & Culture

Now that you've been admitted to Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (MCPHS), it's time to get to know your new backyard: the city of Boston!

We are proud to be located right in the hub of healthcare: the Longwood Medical and Academic Area. But we’re also located in a city that is home to important art and cultural landmarks.

In fact, our Boston campus is conveniently located just minutes from some of the nation's most renowned museums, including the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, which is located just a three minute walk from our door.

Here are just a few of our favorite museums in Boston:

Museum of Science

At the MOS, you can experience fascinating exhibits on a variety of topics, hear from dynamic guest speakers, or take in a film at the Mugar Omni Theatre, which features a five story tall IMAX Dome screen.

One of our favorite exhibitions? The Hall of Human Life, where personal interaction allows you to contribute your own data and become part of the story.

And every fall, the MOS hosts College Night, when MCPHS students get into the museum free of charge for an evening filled with dancing, dining, exploring, and giveaways.

Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum

You may know the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum (ISGM) from news coverage of an art heist that occurred there in 1990, when $300 million in art was stolen from the historic museum. It was the largest art theft in United States history - and it's still unsolved! But there is so much more to this hidden gem, which houses the collection of Ms. Isabella Stewart Gardner, as well as contemporary exhibits.

Our students enjoy free admission to the ISGM, where they can take a break from their studies by taking in the lush indoor courtyard and dynamic exhibits or by grabbing a bite to eat at the museum's delicious Café G. And, our students enjoy free admission to the museum's Third Thursday celebrations each month, which feature performances, dining options, crafts, speakers, and music.

Museum of Fine Arts

Did you know that MCPHS students get into the Museum of Fine Arts for free with their MCPHS ID? The MFA is one of the largest museums in the US, and it’s home to more than 450,000 works of art. With special programming, exhibits, and events throughout the year, there is always something new to experience at the MFA.
