Can I travel outside the state or country?

Throughout the Fall semester, we strongly advise students to refrain from extended personal travel until the Fall semester concludes.

What are the travel policies?

With the continued risk of COVID-19 and caution being emphasized, the University is taking the following actions regarding travel:

If you decide to travel outside the US, we strongly recommend that travelers enroll in the US Department of State’s Safe Traveler Enrollment Program. The STEP program alerts enrolled members to any major changes at your particular destination or assist the local Embassy/consulate in providing support in times of emergency. If you are not a US citizen, and you are traveling to a country other than your own, please contact the Embassy or Consulate of the country of citizenship.

For any domestic or international students (F-1) with questions or concerns about travel, please contact the Immigration and International Support Services at

IMPORTANT: The situation around the international response to COVID-19 can change suddenly. Your ability to return to the U.S. after traveling may be affected by delay or quarantine depending on the situation at the time and the countries you visited. Please review the above-mentioned websites as well as the US State Department’s websites often, especially as you get closer to your return date.

What about returning from travel? Is there anything I need to do?

Please be advised that that any member of our community who returns to the U.S. from travelling internationally will be subject to a 14-day self-imposed quarantine away from the MCPHS University campus. For more detailed information please review the CDC's returning from international travel page

MCPHS will operate an information hotline, and those who have questions may call 617-879-5999. The hotline will be staffed from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday. You can also email
