Center for Drug information and Natural Products

Non-Biased Information on Drugs and Natural Products

What We Do

The Center provides free, comprehensive, non-biased information to healthcare professionals and consumers by responding to inquiries concerning drugs and natural products, such as:

  • Foreign product identification
  • Adverse reactions
  • Drug-drug and drug-natural product interactions
  • Safety of use during pregnancy and breast feeding
  • The therapeutic use of conventional and natural products

Need Information on a drug or natural product?

Healthcare professionals can submit an inquiry by calling 617.732.2759. We are open Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Inquiries are received and researched by sixth-year Doctor of Pharmacy students conducting a rotation in drug and natural product information or CDINP faculty. All responses are verified by CDINP faculty, and most inquires can be answered either on the same day or within 24 hours of when they are received. All requests are confidential.

Traveling and have questions on your medications?

Many people have questions about prescription and non-prescription medications, but it may be difficult to get drug information while traveling in another country.

The International Society of Travel Medicine awarded the MCPHS University School of Pharmacy–Boston a travel medicine grant to study the utility of a global drug information center. As a result we are pleased to offer a free drug information service for travelers who are abroad.

Travelers can ask their question(s) by simply completing a confidential form or by calling 617.879.5936. A pharmacy faculty member in our Center will respond to the question(s) during our normal operating hours of 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. EST (1:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. GMT), Monday through Friday. Safe travels!
