Commencement and Graduation

MCPHS University traditionally offers two commencement ceremonies each academic year to honor our graduate candidates. Due to the guidelines of the COVID-19 Pandemic that is impacting us globally, we are unable to host in person commencement ceremonies.

Graduation and commencement often get confused. Graduation is the actual process of being awarded a degree whereas commencement is a ceremony candidate participate in to celebrate the attainment of a degree.

Graduation: Graduation is the process of being awarded a degree. To be awarded a degree, candidates must apply for graduation and have a degree audit to confirm they have met all degree requirements.

Commencement: Commencement is the congratulatory ceremony (proceeding across the stage) in which the attainment of a degree is recognized by the University community, friends, and family.

Announcements, Class Rings, and other graduation related items are available for purchase through Jostens.

A diploma is a certificate issued by an educational institution, such as college or university, that testifies that the recipient has successfully completed a particular program of study. Diplomas are 11 x 14.

Diplomas are mailed to the home address provided by you in WebAdvisor. It is recommended that all degree candidates log into WebAdvisor before the end of the semester and verify that the diploma address is correct. If incorrect, update it under the Personal Information menu.

Please note, diplomas will not be mailed to candidates with university holds.

The name printed on your diploma will be your name of record which is listed in WebAdvisor. Candidates can visit the Registrar’s Office’s Student Information Update webpage for information regarding name changes.

Diplomas include the following information: student’s name of record (first, middle and last), degree (e.g. Bachelor of Science) and major. Please review your name of record by logging on to Web Advisor and click on the ‘My Profile’ link to view your name of record before your conferral date. If you need to request a name change please click here: Student Information Update.

Please note: graduation honors are not included on your diploma, nor are minors/concentrations. Graduation honors and minors are, however, included on your official transcript. Visit the Registrar’s Office webpage for instructions regarding how to request a transcript.

Graduates can request a duplicate diploma. To order a duplicate diploma please complete the Duplicate Diploma Form. Diploma reorders will not be processed for students with a hold or financial obligation to the University.

  • Graduation honors are based on graduates’ final cumulative grade point average.
  • Graduation honors are only granted for students seeking a bachelor’s or doctor of pharmacy degree who have completed at least 60 credits at MCPHS, or such number of credits applicable for completion of a given degree program.

Cumulative GPA of 3.50 to 3.74 Cum Laude
Cumulative GPA of 3.75 to 3.89 Magna Cum Laude
Cumulative GPA of 3.90 to 4.00 Summa Cum Laude

Diplomas will be mailed to graduates after your degree conferral date. Please allow 6+ weeks for delivery from the date of conferral due to social distancing guidelines and production timeline. If you are unsure of your conferral date, please visit WebAdvisor and select “My Profile” to view your anticipated completion date. Diplomas will be shipped to your home address.
