Accelerated vs. Fast Track

What's the Difference?

The field of healthcare is booming. In fact, one in four new jobs will be created in healthcare through 2024 according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. As a future healthcare leader you want to take advantage of job opportunities as quickly as possible.

That's why we offer several programs in an accelerated and fast track format, allowing you to get in to the workforce much quicker than your peers. But which program is right for you?

Accelerated Programs: Accelerated programs are year-round bachelor of science degree programs that can be completed in three years (32-37 months) instead of the traditional four. These direct-entry programs are open to incoming freshmen and transfer students.

Accelerated majors: Nursing, Dental Hygiene, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, MRI, Nuclear Medicine Technology, and Radiography.

Fast Track Programs: Fast track programs are also year-round bachelor of science degree programs, but are shorter in length than an accelerated program. These programs range between 15-24 months and are open to students who have completed the appropriate amount of college credits and prerequisites.

Fast Track majors: Dental Hygiene, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, MRI, Nuclear Medicine Technology, Radiation Therapy, and Radiography.

How do I know which program is right for me?

Are you currently in high school? As a high school senior, you should apply for one of the accelerated programs. First-year students are not eligible for the fast track programs.

Do you have a bachelor's or associate's degree or a significant amount of college credits? Students who hold a previous degree or have completed the appropriate amount of college credits may apply for a fast track program.

How do I know what the prerequisites for a fast track program are? Prerequisite courses are listed on each fast track program page. Find your fast track program's page through our Program Finder.

What if I haven't completed all the prerequisite courses? Students who have not met all the prerequisite courses may transfer in to an accelerated program.
