Bachelor of Science in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (BS)—Echocardiography Fast Track

This 16-month program—designed for associate’s or bachelor’s degree holders and transfer students——builds on your previous college studies to extend your expertise into echocardiography and vascular medical imaging.

Help Detect and Diagnose Medical Conditions

In this 16-month immersive program at our Worcester campus, you will work alongside professional experts through clinical experiences in prestigious New England area medical facilities. The accelerated nature of the program gives you the benefit of an immersive education and speeds your career launch. Your bachelor’s degree will give you a foundation in adult and congenital echocardiography. You also will gain an in-depth understanding of internal human anatomy. Upon graduation, you will be eligible to sit for national registration by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) and the Cardiac Credentialing International exam (CCI). The program starts in the fall and the spring.

First-Year Experience

  • learn the physics and instrumentation of sonography and echocardiography lab procedures
  • study congenital heart disease
  • gain insights into problem solving in physics and instrumentation
  • participate in multiple echocardiography labs
  • complete your first echocardiography internship

Second-Year Experience

  • participate in a semester-long seminar in sonography
  • study sonographic analysis
  • complete your second echocardiography internship

Hands-on Training Starts Right Away

During the first semester, MCPHS students work at the DMS Echocardiography Lab in small groups with faculty experts using the latest technology.
