MBTA Semester Pass Program

MCPHS participates in the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) Semester Pass Program offered for enrolled students. The program offers discounted rates off of the regular monthly "T" pass price. In order to register for the Semester Pass Program, you must be enrolled as a full-time MCPHS student.

Registration

Students must register and purchase the MBTA Semester Pass Program each semester. Registration does not roll over from semester to semester.

Information about registering and purchasing the pass is sent to each student's MCPHS email. It is important for students to check their MCPHS email often for the most up-to-date information regarding the MBTA Semester Pass Program.

Fall semester

The registration period for the fall semester is June 1 until August 1 at 11:59 pm.

Spring semester

The registration period for the spring semester is October 1 until December 1 at 11:59 p.m.

There are no cancellations or refunds. Only credit or debit cards will be accepted for payment.

Summer semester

Currently, the MBTA does not offer semester passes for the summer months.  Students who are interested in taking the train or bus to and from campus for the summer should purchase their pass directly through the MBTA website here: www.mbta.com

LinkPass, CharlieCard vs. MBTA Semester Pass

If you only need to use the Green Line and other Subway lines, along with Local Bus routes, and not any of the commuter rail stops, we recommend the LinkPass instead of the Zone 1A pass. Please know that the following passes do not work in the Worcester area: LINK, Local Bus, Outer Express Bus, and Inner Express Bus.

From a cost-benefit perspective, you may consider purchasing a CharlieCard through the MBTA; load it with cash to pay for fares if they will be infrequent. If you believe you will be using MBTA services daily, then the Semester Pass Program is probably right for you.

If you are uncertain about which pass is best for you, more information is available on the MBTA website.
