About

Dr. Ivy Krull returned to academia after 13 years in the corporate sector, where she focused on building, scaling, and expanding health-related organizations in both early-stage/start-up and nonprofit environments. Her research has examined organizational and workforce capacity in addiction treatment, systemic components of substance use disorder, and the integration of research-based curriculum in social work education, particularly related to addiction and stigma.

As a macro-level social worker focused on policy, Dr. Krull is interested in the intersection of policy and stigma. Her recent research explores the role of “third spaces”—neutral, informal gathering places where individuals from different backgrounds can connect without the expectation of spending money—during periods of social and political division. Her current work examines the role of libraries as community third spaces in politically divided counties.
