About

Cheri N. Langley, PhD, MPH, CHES is a Program Manager and Adjunct Faculty Member at the University of Louisville. Most recently, Dr. Langley is a Program Manager for a $3 million federal grant funded by the US Department of Health & Human Services, Administration for Children and Families, Office of Child Support Enforcement. Previously, Dr. Langley managed a series of federally funded grants including a $5 million federally grant funded by the Office of Family Assistance in Healthy Marriage and Responsible Fatherhood (HMRF); and another $5 million federally funded grant through the Office of Adolescent Health to prevent teen pregnancy using relationship education and evidence based sexual health education. In all instances, Dr. Langley is instrumental in the research conception, implementation, and evaluation of these programs.

As an epidemiologist, she has a great deal of experience in infectious disease surveillance, prevention, and intervention at the national level (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), the state level (Kentucky Department of Public Health), and the local level (Jefferson County Department of Health – Birmingham, Alabama). She has worked in infectious disease control, foodborne infections, and HIV/AIDS & STI prevention. She also has experience in these areas internationally including Jamaica, Ghana, and Thailand. As an epidemiologist, Dr. Langley also has a great deal of experience in community based participatory approaches. Having been the lead epidemiologist at the HIV/AIDS Branch at the Kentucky Department for Public Health, she was partially responsible for managing the HIV/AIDS Advisory Board which consisted of community members affected by the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the state of Kentucky. Additionally, Dr. Langley also has experience conducting innovative research, and conducting quantitative analysis using quantitative methods (i.e. SAS software, SPSS) including linear and logistic regression. As a professional, she has conducted research in adolescent risk behavior, adolescent sexual behavior, and family engagement. Additionally, she has conducted numerous workshops, given numerous presentations, and evaluated youth programming.
