About
Carla Jean Smith, DHSc, MSN, RN, CNE, is an Associate Professor in the School of Nursing at MCPHS. A Registered Nurse with over two decades of experience, she holds a Doctor of Health Sciences with a focus on global health and a Master of Science in Nursing Education. She is a Certified Nurse Educator through the National League for Nursing.
Dr. Smith’s clinical background includes critical care, emergency, and pediatric nursing. Her scholarly interests focus on nursing education, climate and global health, and the transition of new graduates into practice. She actively serves on committees for the New Hampshire Nurses Association and the National Forum of State Nursing Workforce Centers, contributing to policy and workforce development.
Committed to global service and health equity, Dr. Smith volunteers annually in South America, providing cleft care to underserved children.
