Bachelor of Science in Nursing—Postbaccalaureate

First Semester Experience: Foundations of Professional Nursing

  • Gain an introduction to the nursing profession, including history, theory, and core competencies
  • Learn fundamental nursing skills including health assessment, patient-centered care, communication, and clinical judgement
  • Explore foundational concepts in pathophysiology and pharmacology

Second Semester Experience: Introduction to Medical-Surgical Nursing

  • Begin medical-surgical nursing practice with a focus on adult health
  • Complete coursework integrating pathophysiology, pharmacology, quality and safety, and informatics
  • Explore family dynamics and transitions in care while continuing clinical application

Third Semester Experience: Specialized Populations and Mental Health

  • Expand clinical knowledge to include pediatric, maternity, and mental health nursing
  • Dive deeper into holistic, patient-centered care across the lifespan, including psychosocial health
  • Engage in scholarship and begin structured preparation for professional licensure

Fourth Semester Experience: Advanced Practice, Leadership, and Transition to Practice

  • Synthesize prior learning in advanced medical-surgical nursing
  • Focus on leadership, care coordination, population health, and disaster preparedness
  • Participate in a Capstone experience
  • Engage in intensive preparation for NCLEX-RN licensure
