The mission of the School of Nursing is to be recognized as a center of excellence in nursing education, where practice, education, scholarship, and community engagement connect to advance nursing and healthcare outcomes.

Strategic Priorities

I: Foster Student Success

  • Enhance academic advising and personalized retention strategies across all programs
  • Maintain NCLEX and Board Certification pass rates at or above national benchmarks
  • Expand student support services, Student Success Navigator, peer mentors, and structured tutoring across all programs
  • Foster reflective and ethical practice aligned with nursing competencies through the School of Nursing Code of Conduct

II: Enrich the Student Experience

  • Implement small-group learning activities to promote engagement in large classes
  • Strengthen clinical immersion, interprofessional learning, and simulation activities across all programs
  • Integrate culturally relevant teaching and learning that support inclusive practice into core curricula
  • Encourage student participation in service-learning and community outreach initiatives that support engagement and belonging

III: Promote Faculty and Staff Success

  • Develop peer review and faculty development frameworks to support teaching excellence
  • Expand mentorship and scholarly writing support for faculty
  • Provide resources for scholarship, research, and professional growth
  • Ensure staff support and mentorship programs are robust and equitable
  • Continue to follow the Compact of Professional Behaviors (2025) to support civility and respect for all across the School of Nursing

IV: Strengthen Infrastructure and Technology

  • Develop a comprehensive space and resource plan for undergraduate and graduate programs
  • Invest in simulation technologies, exam platforms, and teaching tools that enhance program outcomes across the School of Nursing
  • Incorporate advanced exam security software and data tools to enhance online learning integrity
  • Maintain optimal faculty-student ratios aligned with regulatory standards and best practices

V: Advance the Identity of the School of Nursing

  • Expand graduate and online programs to meet regional and national workforce needs
  • Establish seamless BSN-to-MSN-to-DNP academic pathways
  • Promote interdisciplinary research and joint student-faculty scholarship
  • Engage alumni and community partners as program ambassadors and mentors
