Reacreditation
The Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences is regionally accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE), which accredits institutions as a whole rather than individual programs. This page provides information about the accreditation process and key milestones. Please check back regularly for updates.
Current Accreditation Status
Colleges and universities in the New England region undergo a regular ten-year review cycle conducted by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE). MCPHS most recently received regional re-accreditation following an on-site visit in 2017. In 2022, the University completed its required five-year interim report, which NECHE subsequently reviewed and accepted. In accordance with NECHE policy, the Commission has scheduled MCPHS’s next comprehensive ten-year evaluation for spring 2027. As part of this process, the University will complete a self-study in fall 2026, and an NECHE evaluation team is scheduled to visit campus in March 14-17, 2027.

Accreditation Standards Committee Strategic Priority 12
The Accreditation Standards Committee meets twice each year, in April and October, to guide the University’s regional accreditation efforts. Beginning in 2025, committee members organized into subcommittees aligned with the NECHE accreditation standards to support the development of the University’s comprehensive self-study. Throughout the year, these subcommittees met regularly, shared working documents on a collaborative TeamSite, and identified supporting materials and evidence.
The Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness, in partnership with the Provost’s Office, is leading the preparation of the self-study and coordinating the collection and organization of supporting evidence. More than a report, the self-study is a campus-wide process that invites reflection, collaboration, and shared inquiry into the University’s strengths, opportunities, and ongoing improvement.

The institution’s mission defines its distinctive character, provides direction for institutional activities, and forms the basis for institutional planning, resource allocation, assessment, and improvement. The organization has a system of governance, internal and at the Board level, that facilitates the accomplishment of its mission, supports effective planning and evaluation, and promotes institutional improvement and innovation. The institution has sufficient autonomy and control of its programs and operations to be held accountable for meeting the Commission’s Standards for Accreditation.
