In this pathway program, earn a combined Bachelor of Science in any field from MCPHS plus an MA in Psychology.

A Commitment to Improving Mental Health

The first four years of this program take place at the MCPHS Boston campus, where you will earn your Bachelor of Science in the field of your choice. You’ll spend the next one to three years at William James College completing the professional education required for the Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Applied Behavior Analysis, School Psychology, or Organizational Psychology. All courses at William James are offered online and can be completed in three semesters full-time or six semesters part-time. The program begins in the fall semester.

Your BS/MA Journey

Your undergraduate journey will expose you to the core aspects of health psychology, basic sciences, and human development and prepare you for the graduate portion of the program.

First-Year Experience

  • form connections with members of the MCPHS community and develop strategies for success
  • learn about the breadth and applications of psychology
  • explore the ways in which biological, psychological, and social factors influence health and well-being

Second-Year Experience

  • develop the ability to critically evaluate and synthesize research to make evidence-informed decisions
  • deepen knowledge of psychological concepts related to the biological bases of behavior, human growth and development, and well-being
  • explore, compare, and develop strategies to succeed in careers of interest

Third-Year Experience

  • learn to design research and report findings
  • learn about healthcare ethics and the rights of medical patients
  • identify interesting career opportunities for individuals with bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees

Fourth-Year Experience

  • gain experience in a career of interest through field placement and prepare for job and/or graduate school applications
  • identify various ways behaviors, thoughts, and emotions contribute to health and well-being through courses such as stress and illness, mind-body medicine, and nutrition and health
  • explore a topic of interest from biopsychosocial perspective

Program Completion

  • Spend the next one to three years at William James College completing the professional education required for the Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Applied Behavior Analysis, School Psychology, or Organizational Psychology. This portion of the program can be completed online.

A five-year combined program that begins at the Boston campus before moving to MCPHS-Worcester.

A six-year combined program that begins at the Boston campus before moving to MCPHS-
Worcester.

Bachelor of Science — Doctor of Psychology Pathway (BS/PsyD)

Four-year, full-time program on the Boston campus. If accepted, students then continue their education at our partner school, the William James College in Newton, MA.
