Message from Leadership
Diversity, equity, and inclusion are essential to MCPHS’s success. We depend upon the participation and inclusion of people of all backgrounds, races, genders, abilities, identities, ideologies, and ways of thinking in order for us to continue to position ourselves as a global leader in healthcare education. As we educate our students to be compassionate leaders and effective citizens in the 21st century, it is essential that we prepare them to navigate differences in experience and opinion in a manner that helps them gain an appreciation of the value of diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
MCPHS’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion is a reflection of our core values. With what we are witnessing and experiencing across our country concerning racial and social injustice, it has never been more important to understand each other and to be vigilant for one another. As a campus community, we condemn language and actions that try to blame, dehumanize, or demean anyone based on their backgrounds, identities, and perspectives. MCPHS is an institution committed to compassion, kindness, and respect – that commitment will not be compromised. Strengthening our academic and social experiences so they align with the particular challenges our students face in their academic and personal lives will be our highest priority. These challenges have become more complex as our society evolves, having only been amplified by COVID-19. Yet our commitment is undeterred. Kindness and empathy will bind us together as we support our entire community and shape our students into future leaders in healthcare.
A healthy and vibrant campus community is characterized by people who value individual and group differences, maintain a high level of respect for each other, and communicate openly. As we look towards a more just future, we will reinforce the attributes that are at the core of our identity and which serve to differentiate us from others. We will do this by ingraining and embracing diversity, equity, and inclusion into all of our programs and activities. This will take time and a focused effort on everyone’s part. It is incumbent upon each of us to be actively involved to help MCPHS continue to grow stronger in our educational mission. We invite you to join us in ensuring that our campus is one where everyone feels included and valued for who they are and what they contribute.
