White coats and name tags will be ordered for each student by the department. White coat sizes should be based on blazers or jackets that you wear over other clothing.

• For students entering in spring 2024, please complete the white coat order form by November 30.
• The white coat order form for students entering in fall 2024 will be available in the summer.

Students are required to purchase official MCPHS scrubs from the MCPHS Bookstore for use during the nursing program. These scrubs must be maroon in color will include the MCPHS logo and your first name and last initial. These will be worn for all labs and clinical experiences and will identify you as an MCPHS student. We recommend that each student purchase two sets of scrubs (tops and bottoms). There is an option to purchase a nursing bundle through the MCPHS bookstore and get a 20% savings. The bundle includes scrubs and the required equipment you need for a discount. Stethoscope

A stethoscope with a diaphragm and bell is required.

Penlight

Penlights can be purchased from any vendor.

Wristwatch with second hand

You will need a wristwatch with a sweeping second hand (not digital) for use in lab and clinical experiences.

Manual Blood Pressure Cuff

An average adult/large size cuff is needed. Please make sure the cuff is latex-free, nylon or other material that can be cleaned, not cloth.

Shoe Requirement

Shoes must be white or black, non-canvas, and rubber-soled, with closed-toe and closed-heel. No logo should be visible. You are not required to purchase special nursing shoes. Any questions about shoes may be directed to the lab manager at Corinne.Butler@mcphs.edu.

MCPHS has established technology guidelines for all new students.

The Accelerated Postbaccalaureate Nursing program uses ExamSoft (electronic testing software) in all first-year courses. All students are required to bring a laptop or iPad meeting the minimum specifications below in order for you to be able to sit for exams.

Each student will be required to purchase a Privacy Screen or Privacy Filter that fits on their PC, MAC or tablet. 

At this time, Examplify can only be used on Mac, Windows, and iPad operating systems. Examplify will not run on Chromebook, Android, or Linux operating systems. Please review minimum system requirements.

The MCPHS bookstore on the Boston campus is able to sell and rent textbooks to students. Shipping is free to students ordering course material.
