Welcome to the Nursing Program

Congratulations on your acceptance and decision to attend the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at MCPHS. We’re excited that you’ll be joining us soon. Before the program begins there are some next steps you’ll need to take to get ready. On this page you will find important information and forms that you will need to begin your studies. We will continue to post program specific information here so please bookmark this page and visit it often.

Next steps for incoming BSN students.

White coats and name tags will be ordered for each student by the Nursing department. Please fill out the online White Coat Order Form designating your white coat size and nametag information here. The deadline to complete this form is November 29, 2019.

You are required to purchase official MCPHS scrubs from McGill's Uniforms for use during the nursing program. These scrubs will include the MCPHS logo and your first name and last initial. These will be worn for all labs and clinical experiences and will identify you as an MCPHS student. We recommend that each student purchase two sets of scrubs (tops and bottoms) and one warm-up jacket.

The MCPHS School of Nursing will be holding an optional Scrubs Fitting Day on the Manchester campus. You will have the opportunity to try on samples of scrubs to get the right fit.

A stethoscope with a diaphragm and bell is required. We recommend the Littmann Classic III or the Littmann Cardiology III, but you may choose to purchase any model. Stethoscopes may be purchased from McGill’s or another vendor such as Work’N Gear, 1111 S. Willow St, Manchester,, or Pocket Nurse, 800.225.1600,


Penlights can be purchased from McGill’s or from any vendor.

Wristwatch with second hand

You will need a wristwatch with a sweeping second hand (not digital) for use in lab and clinical experiences. This may be purchased from McGill’s or from another vendor.

Manual Blood Pressure Cuff

An average adult/large size cuff is needed. Please make sure the cuff is latex-free, nylon or other material that can be cleaned, not cloth.

Shoe Requirement

Shoes must be white or black, non-canvas, and rubber-soled, with closed-toe and closed-heel. No logo should be visible. You are not required to purchase special nursing shoes. Any questions about shoes may be directed to the Lab Manager, Professor Normile, at

The Accelerated Postbaccalaureate Nursing program uses ExamSoft (electronic testing software) in all first-year courses. All students are required to bring a laptop or iPad meeting the minimum specifications below in order for you to be able to sit for exams.

Each student will be required to purchase a Privacy Screen or Privacy Filter that fits on their PC, MAC or tablet. Minimum technology requirements are listed below.
