Getting Started

Welcome to MCPHS University!

The following information is to help you get setup with all of your technology-related needs as you get started at MCPHS. While we've put together the most critical information on this page, be sure to check out the other areas of our site for more information on other technology tools and resources.

Technology Requirements

Before the start of classes, please be sure to check our technology requirements and ensure that your computer or laptop meets our minimum requirements. Additional student laptop information as well as a link to our vendor portal should you need to purchase a laptop can be found here.
Please note: While an iPad or other similar tablet may be a useful tool for note-taking or other tasks, a laptop computer is still required to accommodate the various testing tools used in classes.

ID Badges & Photo Submission

All Boston, Manchester and Worcester based students receive an MCPHS Student ID card, which is required to be worn when you're on-campus.

Once you receive your MCPHS email credentials, watch for an email from the Help Desk titled “MCPHS ID Photo Submission.” Your MCPHS ID badge image can only be submitted using the link from the email.

Wireless Access On Campus

There is wireless coverage available in all academic and residential buildings at MCPHS. All devices must be registered to obtain wireless access. When you first connect your device, open a web browser and navigate to a webpage. You'll be directed to our registration system where you'll sign in and run a "security check" that will verify your computer is up to date with the latest security patches.

Blackboard

Blackboard is MCPHS' Learning Management System. This is where you'll find your course-related information and materials. You're likely already familiar with Blackboard as you've been going through New Student Orientation.

Digital Note-Taking

There are various tools and resources for digital note-taking.

Microsoft Teams

Microsoft Teams is the hub for team collaboration in Office 365. This is a great way to have audio and/or video meetings with other students, faculty/staff meetings and some classes. Create a "team" for a group project, study group, group of friends - whatever you can think of!

About Microsoft Teams

Office 365

MCPHS uses Microsoft Office 365 as the main Communication and Collaboration tool. This is where you can access your email as well as many other Microsoft apps. Your student account also allows you to install Microsoft Office products on up to 5 of your personal devices.

For more information, click here.

OneDrive

OneDrive is the Microsoft Office 365 cloud service that connects you to all your files. It lets you store and protect your files, share them with others, and get to them from anywhere on all your devices. We highly recommend saving all of your files in OneDrive so that they're always available and safe, even if you don't have access to your personal computer.
